I never thought I'd find the same thing in kpop! (I guess it's fate lmao), but I found myself listening to "Tomorrow", ended up crying and now I'm stuck hahaha!!Īnd since I'm just a few months younger than Taehyung, it's like these dudes are going through phases in life at the same time as me. I've struggled with some things since childhood that've gotten increasingly harder to deal with over the years, so all throughout my teens I latched on to various rock bands who served this purpose. and then there's the whole community thing you may get from it all as well - even more like-minded people. Having groups like this show not only that while outwardly others' lives might seem great, they may still be having the same thoughts and experiences as you inside (which is kinda like durrr, obviously but it's nice to have the confirmation nontheless), but also that despite these things they're still pushing through, persevering to accomplish their dreams, finding happiness, humour + enjoyment in life (and even still facing new hurdles), so why shouldn't I too?!. It's sort of like how sometimes you just need a good hug and a "yeah, shit's fucked up dude" instead of someone telling you how great everything is and that you should be less negative. who straight up aknowledge the shitty parts of life you realise we're all going through the same things or can at least find some parallels in our situations. Therefore, I've always found great comfort in musicians/artists/etc. It can be nice to surround yourself with things that are a distraction, in fact the reason I got in to kpop was because everything was so sparkly and bright and positive that it kinda drowned out the way I was feeling at times, but obviously that doesn't address any of these issues so it doesn't really work long-term haha. Sometimes the troubles we go through in life can leave us with a sense of being quite isolated in the way we feel, as though we're stuck struggling while the rest of the world keeps spinning and other people get on with their lives.

the list goes on but that's the gist I suppose. The TL DR version I think would be that within their music lyrically, their overall themes, and in things the members have spoken/written about personally, they address stuff that people can relate to and find comfort in changes in their life as they transition from childhood into adulthood and the realities of the world that they are discovering with this, hardships + inequality in life/society/etc, struggles + failures they and others have faced but have overcome or are still persevering to overcome. I'm not very articulate, but I'll try to give my take on it I guess! (sorry for the rambling lmao) It gives a more pleasant experience to those unaccustomed with reddit's layout and markdown language. Get the Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) extension for your browser.
